This limited edition butterfly, reduction linocut print, is inspired by Britain's endangered butterfly species. Printed by hand onto paper, each piece explores themes of fragility, loss, and the delicate balance of the natural environment. It is an A2, 5-layered, 7 coloured print. 
 
The concept for this print stems from a conservation perspective. The small tortoiseshell butterfly has seen significant population declines in recent years and is expected to be increasingly affected by climate change. In response, 10% from each sale of this print is donated to Butterfly Conservation to support their ongoing work.
 
Reduction printmaking uses a single linoleum block to print every layer of colour. After each colour is printed, more of the block is carved away, making it impossible to return to earlier stages. This means every edition is unique and unrepeatable. This print is created using five reduction stages and a total of seven colours, progressing through blue, yellow, two orange tones, two brown tones, and finally black.
 
A total of 23 prints were produced, each subtly unique due to the nature of the reduction process. Print comes unframed.
