This Red Squirrel who we have named "Red" is a handprinted reduction print made up of 7 layers and 7 colours. Completely unique and one of a kind there are only 28 prints in this run. Designed, hand-carved and hand-printed by us. 
 
A reduction print uses the same lino block to build up an image of multiple colours. This is done by the continuous carving and layering of each colour. For example I started by carving out everything that is white and printed the block in a light yellow. I then carved out everything that was yellow and printed the block in a light orange, which left the parts I had just carved yellow. The layers are as follows: light yellow, light orange, dark orange, red, light brown, dark brown and finally a small hint of black on the eye. 
 
This print is part of a series of reduction prints where I focus on endagered UK species to help raise money for the ongoing efforts to preserve them. 10% of each sale will go towards the 'Red Squirrel Survival Trust'.
