Harvest Hare

Harvest Hare

These 'Harvest Hare' prints are completely handmade and handprinted uniquely for you. Inspired by the British countryside that we live so close to, we wanted to capture the hare sitting within a field of wheat just before harvest.

This print was initially drawn by Holly in fine line pen before it was transferred onto a lino block and carved out. This carving process took roughly 30 hours. Once carved the block was printed in black and burnt sienna. Then we handmixed a deep blue, red and green. Each print is inked up using a brayer (roller) and a print press is used to transfer the design. The deep green colour proved very difficult to photograph, the colour itself is much richer and more visibly green, though still deep.

After these initial colours where printed we wanted to try a multicoloured print using a yellow for the wheat and a deep blue for the hare. The process is shown in the video above.
